Must-go Atlanta Weekend Destinations
We asked TALK Atlanta students Maria Paula Alvarez, Mohammed Alaqeel, Aminata Anguilet, Francisco Montero, Luis Munoz and Mohammed Okdah about their favorite Atlanta weekend destinations. They came up with some great ideas!
Six Flags Over Georgia may be something you think of as just a day trip—which is certainly fun—but when have you ever really conquered every ride in the park in one day? Buy a “group pass”, and go with 15 of your best friends. Share hotel rooms just steps from the Six Flags gates and open and close the park each day of a weekend J
Chattanooga is less than 2 hours from Atlanta right along the Tennessee River. Named one of the “Top 45 Places to go”, and “The Best Place Ever” (twice!), Chattanooga has tons of outdoor and indoor attractions—stroll the 13miles of Riverwalk or take a Riverboat cruise, enjoy an afternoon at the Tennessee Aquarium, and visit the stunning Ruby Falls.
Athens, Georgia is a surprising place—self-described as “Live
Music Central” with venues like the famous 40 Watt Club that have helped to launch the careers of many musicians and comedians.
A trip to the Smokey Mountains can’t help but make the list of favorite
weekend trips. The Great Smokey Mountains National Park straddles the border between North Carolina and Tennessee.
Hike part of the Appalachian Trail, go to the top of the observation deck for Clingmans Dome and just BE amid all the natural wonder that is the Great Smokey Mountains.
Camp if you’re able to, or stay at one of the local hotels in nearby Dollywood, Gatlinburg, or Pigeon Forge.
Studying at TALK’s Atlanta location gives you access to so many beautiful and exciting weekend destinations in and around the central southern coast of the US, you may never want to go home.
