 In TALK Schools

October’s end sees the biggest street party in the USA – Halloween!  While our students might not join the trick-or-treat custom of calling on houses in the neighborhood, they always come up with inventive and fun ways to do celebrate this 3rd biggest holiday party in the USA.

Every year, the students at TALK English Schools in Aventura make a big splash with their costumes, their pumpkin carving, and their spooky spirits.  For those with a sweet tooth, it is the day when those eating monstrous amounts of sugary sweets are an intrinsic part of the celebration. Yes, Halloween treats don’t just mean pumpkin pie – the day has come to be linked with the most sugary treats that range from traditional candy corn to an endless array of candy made to look as ghoulish and gross as possible, designed to repulse and repel.

TALK Aventura always holds a costume competition.  Here are some of the costume party revelers from last year:

As with all holidays in Miami, Halloween is a ready excuse for the thing that Miami natives do best – party.  There are lots of costume competitions and parties all over the city, and some have become firm favorites.

South Beach’s Lincoln Road Mall always hosts a fabulous fun spook celebration. It’s obligatory to get on your best most outrageous costume and strut the street which is filled with outdoor bars, music, improv entertainment featuring famous DJs. While the event is family and pet-friendly, the later the night wears on, the more it becomes a party scene.

Another event that Miami and Aventura locals love is HalloWYN, that artsy area Wynwood’s official Halloween Block Party. HalloWYN, a play on the words Halloween and Wynwood, happens on October 31st, welcomes throngs of Miami’s amazingly costumed partiers. It takes place, rain or shine is the largest free block party in Miami. Entertainment, food trucks and festivities and the eclectic crowd are the main attractions at this uniquely Miamian event.
