 In TALK Schools

In the middle of the 20th Century, the world started getting smaller, in the sense that international travel became cheaper, faster and easier. International student exchange and study abroad programs quickly took off. The United States was, from the start, the destination of choice for international students, and all were welcome.

The USA, with its welcoming and tolerant spirit, its advanced educational systems and demand for skilled professionals, has hosted up to a quarter of the total world percentage of international students – millions each year. Statistically speaking, the years 2010 to 2016 saw more than half of all international students in the USA studying in California, Massachusetts, Florida, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.

TALK English Schools has hosted over 10,000 international students since it opened its doors just over 20 years ago.  Students from 96 countries have enjoyed not only a quality educational experience and excellent outcomes but also creating strong people-to-people connections and improving their cultural understanding of the USA and many other countries which are represented by their fellow students.

“International education promotes the relationship building and knowledge exchange between people and communities in the United States and around the world that are necessary to solve global challenges,” said Evan M. Ryan, former Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs. “The connections made during international education experiences last a lifetime.”

Des Levin, CEO of TALK English Schools, holds to such a vision as well. “While language acquisition is achieved through practical immersion, our students are compelled to learn about acceptance and understanding of many different cultural perspectives. With their broader general knowledge, ability to integrate and to realize their independence as adults, self-development and enhanced self-confidence is the most noticeable change we observe in our students.”

The TALK culture reflects this spirit of diversity and cross-cultural dynamics, with 20 languages spoken fluently by TALK staff members (Afrikaans, Arabic, Bulgarian, Cantonese, Creole, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Taiwanese, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.)

Our mission is to promote a world in which communication, understanding, cooperation and respect exist between people of all countries and cultures.  TALK welcomes you, from whatever corner of the globe you are, to join us on your journey of learning English, make memories and create eternal bonds with new friends.
