It is difficult to select 10 Boston events this August, mainly because the remaining summer days of August in Boston are back to back with fantastic concerts, festivals, fairs and games.  There is an absolute over-abundance of things you can choose to do.  August is balmy, but don’t forget to step out with an umbrella if its outdoor Boston events you plan to attend.  Surprise thundershowers are not uncommon in August in this city.

After some investigating, we at TALK have come up with 10 events occurring in Boston which are pretty much mandatory if you want to really experience the flavor of Boston at this time of the year.

10 Boston Events to Recommend

1. July 22 – August 9  Shakespeare on the Common – at 8pm on Tuesdays through Saturdays, 7p.m. on Sundays, plus a 3p.m. matinee on August 8 (note – no performances on Mondays)
2. Throughout August  Plenty of Red Sox games at Fenway Park check out on their website http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/, plus pre-season (August 13 at Gillette Stadium) for the New England Patriots.

4. August 5-26   Free Night at the Museum of Fine Art   4pm – 9:45pm Wednesday nights after 4 pm, admission is by voluntary contribution. Avenue of the Arts, 465 Huntington Avenue, Boston. (617) 267-9300.
5. August 8-10  Comic Con rolls in to the Seaport World Trade Center, Boston Comic Con  , Seaport World Trade Center, $20-$75 per event, $120 for VIP three-day admissionFanboys and girls, head to the Seaport District the second weekend of August to geek out at Boston’s own Comic Con
6. August 13-16  The Fisherman’s Feast  Enjoy Italian food, music, and culture at the Fisherman’s Feast, which pays tribute to the Lady of Help of Sciacca on the streets of the North End. The Flight of the Angel is a high-wire act Sunday. Free. The Fisherman’s Feast is located in Boston’s historic North End on North, Fleet and Lewis Streets. 617-590-1957.
7. August 17- 22; 24-29 Summer Dine Out Boston.  If there are Boston restaurants you’ve been wanting to try, August is the month to do it – Dine Out Boston returns, with affordable prix-fixe menus at participating restaurants in and around the city. $15, $20, or $25 for lunch; $28, $33, or $38 for dinner  At press time, more than 170 Boston-area restaurants were participating in the two-week summer edition of Dine Out Boston Wherever you decide to go, be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible – tables at popular and high-end restaurants will get booked up quickly.
8. August 21-23  Boston Green Fest  Noon – 10pm  This 7^th annual festival offers more than just great music and food; there are exhibits, workshops, and presentations to help you learn about the green lifestyle, plus entertainment on 4 stages at City Hall Plaza. The first day is only an evening concert. Free. Stop by for a yoga or tai chi demo, drink organic wines from the wine and beer garden, or take in a live music concert or dance presentation from the diverse roster of artists scheduled to perform.
9. August 28-30  Saint Anthony’s Feast  Each year the people of the North End invite you to celebrate with them as they honor their patrons Saint Anthony and Saint Lucy with colorful parades, religious services, strolling singers, live entertainment and of course an abundance of great Italian and American food. Located on Endicott, Thacher, and North Margin Streets in Boston’s North End. 617-723-8669. Free.
10. August 30  Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Fenway Park  , Fenway Park, $101.50  Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (with opener Steve Winwood) arrive at Fenway in late August for a sure-to-be stellar show. Every ticket sold includes a copy of Hypnotic Eye, the band’s new album. Book your tickets ASAP. A Boston event not to be missed!!
