No Impulse Buying 

Impulse shopping or buying can be extremely tempting when out and about. The only problem with this is that it will cause you to blow all your money on items you don’t need and don’t really want. One trick is to ask yourself do you really need the item or do you just want it?

Lock Away Credit Cards

Many students find a temptation to buy now, pay later. This approach will lead to bad spending habits and probably drive you go into debt, especially if you can’t afford to pay the credit card back quickly and start notching up those huge interest rates. Until you can manage your money it is best to lock your credit card away to avoid the temptation of using it. Only use it for emergencies and for absolutely necessary items or services.

Give the Bad Habits up

If you smoke, drink, or buy expensive coffee this can cause your money to dwindle fast. Try to wean yourself off your bad habits and you will find you have saved a whole lot of money in the end.

Stop Keeping up with Those Around You

Instead of buying books or DVDs, try renting them from a library, as this will really be a big saving and will keep you within your budget during your study period.
