Embracing Diversity To Become Tolerant Human Beings
Studying abroad in any school will show you a great diversity of students. This means that everyone is recognized as their own person in their own unique way. The differences with people is not about the way they look it’s about their religious beliefs, personality, cultural background, athletic ability, reading level and the list goes on. Because of these differences, that’s why you see diversity in the classroom and because of this we all need to accept and embrace diversity with all those around us. Diversity should be valued and we all should model this attitude at all times. When diversity is valued and recognised you can then respect each and every person that you come in contact with. This is a good thing as it teaches us to become more tolerant human beings and have better skills with coping and dealing with those around us.
To embrace diversity you must first create the environment and accept it. You will need to open your eyes to those around you and see whether your actions or those around you cause other students to feel uncomfortable, not respected or unsafe. If this is the case you will need to change your attitude and understand that not everyone is the same and that people come from all walks of life. You may have had a great childhood, but it doesn’t meant that others around you have. Accepting people for who they are can be hard sometimes but it is so rewarding.
Embracing diversity no matter who you meet will make you a better person overall. You will tolerate people much better, have better understanding of those around you and be a more compassionate person in yourself which is great for inner peace and overall personal growth as you live your life to the fullest.
