Students take to the slopes near Lake Tahoe
Students at TALK San Francisco can enjoy a whole range of interesting activities that are scheduled for March.
Students will tour Lake Tahoe and Stanford University
The Stanford University Campus walking tour will be offered to TALK San Francisco students in March. This covers central campus which is the historic and academic center of campus. The students also visit the White Plaza where the student activities area is located. Visiting groups are accompanied by student tour guides, but they can also explore Stanford University’s rich history, its distinctive architecture and famous landmarks by themselves as a self-guide tour map is available.
Going farther afield in March as well, the TALK San Francisco students will be taking a bus tour to Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in the United States, is where Nevada and California meet, and it is a favorite spot for residents of both states for an array of outdoor activities all year round. Being March, there is still snow on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains surrounding the lake, and so the students can expect to do some skiing and snowboarding. Ski season begins around Thanksgiving in November and ends mid-April.
Closer to home, TALK San Francisco students will join the fun as they watch the parade that is synonymous with February in America.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place along Market Street in downtown San Francisco. San Francisco is home to one of the largest Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations in the world. The parade and festival around the day attracts huge crowds, more than 100,000 people. Since it’s so popular, it’s always held on a weekend. This year the Parade will be on Saturday, March 11.
